Monks in Bagan, Bagan, Myanmar

Here's an amazing card from a rather "hard to get" country. This one shows monks from the ancient city of Bagan in Myanmar. The ancient city of Bagan can trace its roots back to the 9th century, and I would say the pictures of Bagan depict very impressive architecture. I guess it would have been considered an incredible construction feat during that time. You can read more about the ancient city here.

The stamp used on this card is from a set of three, issued on 16th June 2011. They are based on the theme "The responsibility of the new government", and I guess this stamp here shows one of the important government buildings in the country. A pretty fitting post at this time too because Burmese politician Aung San Suu Kyi just made a state visit to Singapore a few days back.

Thank you John for the wonderful card and stamp!
